My name is Deja Erin McGhaw, and I am the founder of McGhaw Social Media Consulting Services LLC.. I fell in love with social media while pursing my bachelors in Broadcast Digital Journalism. I entered school with dreams of becoming a News Anchor but after learning the backend of 21st Century Journalism I realized later that being a social media manager was something I wanted to pursue more. (News reporting is still a passion too.)
In the corporate world, it was hard to get a job because people sought years of experience as a key thing. Being fresh out of school didn’t help. I'm grateful for the church giving me my first start! In 2011 I was asked to become a social media manager for my church account. This came about because of the leaders seeing how I shared updates on my personal page.
In 2018 into 2019 I decided I wanted to go back to school. This time for my 2nd masters in Digital Marketing. My goal was to get refreshed in the field to get a higher paying job. While in school realized that my goal was to no longer get a degree for corporate America, but to get a degree to branch out in Entrepreneurship!
McGhaw SMCS LLC was launched right before the Pandemic! Jan. 6, 2020 to be exact! This is how I know our business is God led! Since then it has prospered, and I have connected with so many great loving clients who believe in me! I have trained churches out of state with social media, I have helped a local hospital in STL live stream a Residency Graduation, directed a virtual council and so much more. I give all glory to Jesus! I'm literally just a vessel.
I was told for years I should start a business. What helped me to get going was literally walking by faith and just doing it.
I encourage all those who have been stalling to start what God has given you to do.
